History of Internet in India

The use of Internet started publicly for the first time in India on 14 August 1995, before an institution called Educational Research Network (ERNET) talked about internet in India in 1986 for the purpose of education and research in India. In the first days, Internet service was started in only big cities. The company named Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) first made the internet publicly available in India (according to Wikipedia). Now Internet connection has reached every corner of the country. India is currently the second most Internet-using country in the world after China.
