When the president uses Twitter as a primary means of communication, you know the internet is important in society.
What is Internet?
Internet, a system architecture that has revolutionized communications and methods of commerce by allowing various computer networks around the world to interconnect. Sometimes referred to as a “network of networks,” the Internet emerged in the United States in the 1970s but did not become visible to the general public until the early 1990s. By 2020, approximately 4.5 billion people, or more than half of the world’s population, were estimated to have access to the Internet.
The Internet provides a capability so powerful and general that it can be used for almost any purpose that depends on information, and it is accessible by every individual who connects to one of its constituent networks. It supports human communication via social media, electronic mail, newsgroups, and audio and video transmission and allows people to work collaboratively at many different locations. It supports access to digital information by many applications, including the World Wide Web. The Internet has proved to be a spawning ground for a large and growing number of “e-businesses” (including subsidiaries of traditional “brick-and-mortar” companies) that carry out most of their sales and services over the Internet. We can of course live without most of the things the internet provides if not all.
The question is how rough would a complete and unplanned removal of the internet be? What backup protocols do we have in place? Most government, medical and military systems have secondary protocols for this but many commercial systems are 100% internet bound and even created on the internet as their only platform. Most of these are non-vital, Facebook, and Youtube for instance.
Internet has opened a new world for many people around the world. Many opportunities are available here. It is a manifestation of never-ending innovation and creativity. It knows no boundary but brings huge economic chances for people in every country. The Internet allows people to improve the quality of their life. It opens access to the previously inaccessible things. With almost three million users, the internet has been emerging as one of the most important tools of communication.
The Internet is for everyone. It shapes a new platform in business and public services. It provides energy for more people to shape their own life by making advantages of wide-open opportunities. Right now, more people are still internet users, instead of network owners. However, along with its increasingly significant roles, the internet will become a universally accessible platform, which will allow people to have improved life quality. However, to realize this, regulation is necessary to make sure that everything is at the right line.
